Contracted Expenses in the 2022 Brazilian Elections

I developed an interactive dashboard to analyze contracted campaign expenses from the 2022 Brazilian elections, using open data provided by the Brazilian Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

The project focuses on transforming raw public data into clear and insightful visualizations, making it easier to explore how campaign resources were allocated across different dimensions.

🔎 Key Features

  • Expenses by political party
Compare strategies and the share of total investment across parties.
  • Regional distribution (by state)
Identify differences in spending patterns across Brazil.
  • Spending by position
Analyze how resources vary between roles such as president, governor, and legislators.
  • Expense types breakdown
Explore categories like advertising, jingles, printed materials, and more, including their percentage share.
  • Party-level comparisons
Deeper analysis of how parties allocate campaign funds.
  • Per capita spending ranking
Understand spending relative to each state’s population to highlight proportional investment.
  • Elected vs. non-elected candidates
Examine the relationship between campaign spending and election outcomes.
  • Geographic visualization (map)
View how expenses are distributed across the country.

⚠️ Important Notes

Not all contracted expenses correspond to actual payments. As a result, total contracted amounts may exceed official campaign spending limits.

Additionally, detailed information for individual candidates can be verified directly through the official TSE platform.
